From what I've read, the emperor scorpion is the largest, ugliest scorpion. Living in a non-desert area, I have no real world experience with scorpions. But I'm guessing that many of you readers who live in desert areas have a lot of experience with witches. Sig Sauer named the 1911 carrier after the Emperor Scorpion. I'll take their word for it. I set out to review the Scorpion 1911 with some expectations (knowing the quality of the Sig in general).
Sig 1911 Emperor
I own Sig products and have read (and written) many reviews of their guns. So, when I got my hands on a 1911 Scorpion I was ready for anything. With some excitement, I grabbed the 1911 from the kitchen table and (after making sure it was clear) pulled the trigger.

Once I dried this gun I was hooked. Loaned to me by a good family friend, Glenn, in 1998 I know that what I know (and don't know) about 1911s will be unique. Not an expert on the 1911 breed, but having owned several and knowing what I liked, I took to this gun like a proverbial duck to water.

This unique serial number Sig 1911 is an older Commander sized pistol with a 4.2 inch barrel, flat trigger and full size frame. The closest model Sig shows on the website is the same gun but with a lighter, skeletonized trigger and bobtail frame.
This gun does not appear on the Sig website, or at least, I could not find it. But it is available for sale online. Available in a modern incarnation with a bobtail frame and standard trigger from any Sig dealer.
Review: Sig Sauer Emperor Scorpion 10mm
I think most of us have heard of Sig Sauer, so I won't bore you with too many details. They make a very broad line of 1911s, but their rifles are good quality stuff, Clark said. Anyone should remind readers that the Sig pistol was converted to the M17/M18 for military use in January 2017.
The M17 is the full size version while the M18 is a slightly more compact pistol. The military wants modularity, among other things - and this Sig delivers. Changing the frame is easy, the original serial numbered rifle fire control housing is inserted into the frame you need - full, compact and sub-compact sizes are available for purchase. The military version has easy-to-mount optics, as well as suppressors.
In addition to a recent military contract coup, Sig weapons are used by many other military and law enforcement agencies around the world, not to mention dozens of law enforcement and government agencies in the United States.
So, with military pistol and rifle experience, it's no surprise that the 1911 was in business big time, from 1911 to 1985 the US military's sidearm was the M1911. The civilian market The 1911 is over a century old. Also, go in a big way. Sig serves that market.

The company introduced a series of 1911s in two pistols: full size and compact, known as the GSR series. GSR granite rail series and among other features a
The expression I used at the time showed the Sig profile in 1911. The gun looks similar to the Sig P226 from the front. However, the slide configuration made it difficult to find a suitable case. Enter the traditional series of 1911s with slide shapes that match John Browning's original design. This pleased shooters, or at least the Sig 1911 did.
In the photo above, you can make a square-ish slide in front. It's not the round, sleek shape that Browning envisioned, but Sig took it home a bit when they introduced the 1911 Traditional series, which were part of the Scorpions.
Guns currently available from Sig feature black G10 Hogue grip panels, but these are colored in the FDE pattern. Let's take a closer look at the components.

Note the cut in the top and front of the pipe to remove stress cracks and hex head retaining screws. The flat trigger is clear. It should be overly long on the face, but it doesn't need to be. The trigger is great.
Notice how small it is - it doesn't get caught in anything. Still, it's enough to work. Here is the view from above. The safety goes up to the container.
Slide, left and right sides. Also, the slide chamber is scalloped behind the slide ejection port to reduce brass swinging and landing on unknown parts.
A non-metallic baseplate will not break if dropped on gravel. Also, the sequel is flat. Most any 1911 mag should work. I have some chip McCormick mags that work with almost any 1911 I have tried, so you don't necessarily need to buy Sig mags. However, you can be sure that name-brand mags are reliable.

Now, we've seen the gun up close and personal. How about some details? Some are from the Sig website and my first hand observations and experiences.
Flat face, adjustable extra travel with screw on trigger face. (I measured the trigger pull at 2 pounds, 9.9 ounces with a Lyman digital trigger pull gauge. No take-up, little wobble, and no crossover.)
Shooting a scorpion is a joy. With an average trigger pull of less than 3 pounds, the gun excels in accuracy. I've shot a Plain-Jane 230-grain round nose and achieved such accuracy at normal combat range distances. Be sure to check out my article on good .45 ACP ammo.
My home target block is 4 inches square, with each line one inch apart. So, you will see what kind of accuracy is demonstrated by the Scorpion Carry Pistol. This is one of the many loads I've tried. My hand loads are a little better. I don't think I have to worry about accuracy issues with this gun. Any standard self-defense or target load should be accurate when fired from this gun.

I am very pleased with the trigger on this gun. The trigger broke (as I mentioned above) at less than 3 lbs. It might be too easy for some people, but if you train with that trigger, you'll learn how to control it (hold the finger until it's ready to fire).
The security was pleasant. Being a lefty, I appreciate the safety lever on the right. I put my thumb on it. The safety lever is big enough to work well but not too big to trip over. I think this gun has more accuracy than mine.
Also the twilight shooting sights prove themselves with their tritium inserts. They are suitable for the task at hand. The rear sight's low profile prevents skidding, another benefit.
So, how did I like the Scorpion? I really liked it. Do I want to have one? Of course, I do. This is a high quality 1911 with all the right bells and whistles in all the right places. Given the reputation of Sig (and .45s), I think they could do a lot worse than this 1911. I don't think you would consider this gun for any tactical or carry purposes. Another plus of the redesigned rounded slide is that this pistol is compatible with standard 1911 holsters.

Handgun in .45 or .357 Sig caliber (I've reviewed the Glock 32 in the same caliber - it's a thumper). I don't think you can go wrong. Since this gun is a standard 1911, any holster for that model should work, as well as any accessories you have. An additional advantage is the rail on the dust cover - simply add a light or laser.
If you want one of the best 1911's out there, check out the Sig line. This Scorpion holster model is so popular – no more than one dealer stocks it – that works to your advantage when deciding which 1911 to carry.
A short, commanding long barrel won't hurt either, since you'll be hiding the rifle. The trigger, in my opinion, is the best feature of this particular gun, but you might prefer something else and that's okay. Please take a look and let us know what you think below.
