Savage 64 F - The Savage Model 64 Series is a semi-automatic .22 LR rifle manufactured by Savage Arms of Canada. It works with a simple blow action It is marketed to shooters, small game hunters and budget minded shooters It is one of the most popular hunting and target-shooting rifles in America because of its accuracy, popular and neglected .22 long rifle ammunition, and it's cheap.
Originally known as the Cue Model 64, it hit the market in 1964. The weapon was designed by Hubert Cui and was based on the Model 39 design.

The Cui plant was closed in 1979, with many employees and machines going to the Lakefield Arms Company. Savage Arms purchased Lakefield Arms in 1995 and continued manufacturing under the Savage & Staves label.

In 2019, Sanjay designed a variant of the Model 64 designed for easy disassembly and reassembly. This variant is called the Model 64 Takedown The Model 64 Takedown is only available in matte-black with a synthetic stock. It comes out of the box drilled and tapped for scope mounting The Model 64 Takedown is made at a Savage facility in Canada The Savage 64 is a semi-automatic 22LR Formerly known as the Coe 64, Winchester-Coe 64 and Lakefield 64B, the Savage 64 is an inexpensive rimfire rifle that has been around for decades. Sanjay brings its new A22 design to compete with the Model 64, so we don't get to see much of the future. The Sanjay 64 is about $170-250 in Canada and $130 or so in the US.

Since the design is decades old, some features have been lost, and some old features still remain.
Right off the bat, loading magazines in this rifle is weird The front mag catch is a weird place that requires you to use your index finger
The safety on the right side of the receiver is also in a slightly odd location It's not scary to get in, but you have to crack your thumb and use your thumb, or use your index finger to close it.
Overall, the receiver on the Savage 64 is really long: the length between the front of the trigger and the break is 6 1/8″ compared to 4 1/4″ on the Remington 597 and 4 1/2″ on the Ruger. 10/22 That's an extra 2″ receiver and makes the gun a bit longer than it really needs to be

I believe some of you have very accurate Sanjay 64 This is one. .I have rarely seen massive vertical strings on target on shots at 30 yards resulting in 3″+ groups. Even with a scope that costs several times more than the rifle, the accuracy of the first shot is incredibly off-putting from groups with several shots.
After playing with different torque settings on the action screw, the string loosened up enough and I was able to pitch about 1″ groups at 25 yards. Still not amazing accuracy, but better than the group I got with the factory torque settings on the action screw!
Some people out there reported problems from bad magazines, while others had to keep their Savage 64 oiled. It ran like a top: 100% reliable through about 500 rounds a session range using different ambuscade.
It's hard to recommend this rifle when it lacks the aftermarket support and accuracy that comes with the comparably priced Marlin 795. At a slightly higher price point, there's also the universal Ruger 10/22 that comes with better finishes parts and WAYYYY more aftermarket support. But, if you don't want to modify your rifle and you're looking for a Savage 64 for sale, don't hesitate.
